If you’ve been waiting for fall to actually feel like fall around here… well, it’s here. 🎃🍂
October is packed with things to do in Camas and Washougal, from pumpkins and Oktoberfest to costumes, trick-or-treating and a few things that are definitely more fun for the grown-ups.
There are plenty of events happening all over Southwest Washington this month, but I wanted to keep this list close to home. These are some of the local events that caught my eye — including a few that are especially near and dear to my heart.
So grab your calendar and let’s get to it!
🍺 Oktoberfest at St. Matthew Lutheran Church
October 11 | 12–3 p.m. | FREE
Who says Oktoberfest has to mean heading into Portland? St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Washougal is hosting its own Oktoberfest, and it’s free to attend.
It’s a great example of the kind of community event I love seeing around here — local, welcoming and a good excuse to get out and see your neighbors.
🧟 Zombie Dash — Camas
October 17 | 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
Ready to see if you can outrun a zombie?
The City of Camas is hosting its Zombie Dash at the Legacy Lands Rose Property. This 1.25-mile course combines running with obstacles — and zombies who are trying to steal your flags.
Definitely one for the people who like their fall activities with a little adrenaline.
🎃 Pumpkin Harvest Festival — Washougal
October 17 | 12–3 p.m. | Hathaway Park
If you’re looking for a family-friendly fall afternoon, head to Hathaway Park for Washougal’s Pumpkin Harvest Festival.
There will be games, costumes, prizes and a free pumpkin for each child while supplies last.
And because October weather in the Pacific Northwest likes to keep us guessing, the event is rain or shine.
🧙 Witches Night Out — Downtown Camas
October 23 | 5–7 p.m.
Grab your favorite witchy outfit and head downtown for Witches Night Out.
Downtown Camas businesses get in on the fun, and there’s even a costume contest. It’s a fun excuse to support local businesses while enjoying a little grown-up Halloween spirit.
🎃 Pumpkin Party & Boo Bash — Downtown Camas
October 28 | 2:30–5:30 p.m.
This is a big one for the little ghosts and goblins.
The Pumpkin Party includes pumpkin decorating, games, prizes, face painting, balloon art and more. Then Boo Bash trick-or-treating runs from 3–5 p.m.
If your kids are already counting down to Halloween, this one belongs on the calendar.
👻 Trick or Treat on Main — Washougal
October 31 | 3–5 p.m. | Downtown Washougal
And then, of course, there’s Trick or Treat on Main. ❤️
This is one of those events that makes downtown Washougal feel like a community.
From 3–5 p.m., Main Street businesses open their doors to trick-or-treaters, creating a safe, walkable Halloween experience for local families. You’ll find participating businesses throughout downtown handing out treats, along with community groups and organizations joining in the fun at Reflection Plaza.
So don’t just stop at the plaza — take a stroll down Main Street and visit the local businesses that help make Washougal such a special place to live.
And if you’re a local business or organization thinking, “Wait, I want to be part of this!” — there’s still room in Reflection Plaza for additional tents.
Reach out to the Camas-Washougal Chamber of Commerce to reserve your spot and join the fun.
This is one of my favorite Washougal traditions, and I may be just a little biased since I helped bring it to life. 😉
🕵️ Midnight at the Masquerade — Washougal
October 31 | 6–10 p.m. | 21+
If trick-or-treating isn’t quite your Halloween speed anymore, there’s an option for the adults.
Midnight at the Masquerade at the Black Pearl on the Columbia is an immersive murder-mystery dinner with costumes encouraged. Because apparently Halloween gets even more fun when someone might be the murderer. 😂
🎃 Fall Fun at Get To-Gather Farm — Washougal
And we can’t talk about October in Washougal without mentioning Get To-Gather Farm.
Their fall season runs throughout October, with pumpkins, hayrides, the hay bale pyramid, haunted forest fun and evening pumpkin hunting on select nights.
This is one you can work into your October plans rather than having to squeeze into one particular afternoon.
There’s a lot to love about fall around here.
One of the things I love about living and working in the Camas-Washougal area is that you don’t have to go far to find something fun to do.
You can spend one weekend picking out pumpkins, another downtown in costume, grab a free pumpkin with the kids, support a local business, run from zombies — or just wander around and see what your neighbors are up to.
That’s the good stuff.
Happy October, Camas & Washougal. 🍂🎃
Event details can change, so be sure to check with the event organizer before heading out.
